The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State has elected new executives across all 21 local government areas to strengthen its grassroots structure and prepare for future elections.

The executives emerged through a consensus arrangement unanimously endorsed by stakeholders to minimise disputes and foster internal cohesion.

Speaking while monitoring the exercise in Yola South, Yola North, and Gerei LGAs on Monday, the Chairman of the Adamawa PDP Local Governments Congress Committee, Hon. David Iorhembe (retd.), said he was impressed with the peaceful conduct.

“I am satisfied with the large turnout and the maturity our members have shown today. The consensus option has really helped to unite the party and avoid unnecessary tension,” Iorhembe said.

Iorhembe commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, describing him as a forward-thinking leader whose achievements have boosted the popularity of the PDP in the state.

He urged party faithful to continue rallying around the governor, stressing that his administration’s record of performance remained the PDP’s strongest campaign tool.

The committee chairman expressed confidence that the renewed unity within the party would guarantee success at the next general election.

“PDP remains the party to beat come 2027, and with the unity we have shown here today, I am confident we will deliver,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Edo State chapter, has condemned the conduct of the Local Government election by the Chairman and members of the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC).

The party, in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Chris Osa Nehikhare, accused the EDSIEC of being in cahoots with the Attorney-General of Edo State.

Nehikare fumed that despite subsisting orders of the Edo State High Court and the National Industrial Court, the electoral body went ahead with the election.

He went on to reveal that the party had ordered its legal team to initiate contempt proceedings against the Chairman and members of EDSIEC, as well as the Attorney General of Edo State.
