Former North-West Zonal Women Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hajia Halima Yunusa Kajuru, has announced her resignation from the party.

In a letter dated 29 August 2025 and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman in Kajuru, Kaduna State, Halima stated that her decision takes immediate effect. She also returned her membership card as confirmation of her exit.

“I wish to notify the Party Chairman of my decision to resign my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party with immediate effect,” she wrote.

Halima noted that she had served the PDP in various capacities, including her election as North-West Zonal Women Leader in 2019, a role she said she discharged with dignity and selfless service.

The Chairman may note that I have had the opportunity of serving the Peoples Democratic Party in different capacity until the last of which I was elected the North-West Zonal Women Leader in 2019.

“Position I held with dignity and selfless service even at a point where we had no government and have influenced a lot of decisions and mobilized so many members and voters to the party,” she noted.

Halima also highlighted her role in mobilising support during the 16 August 2025 by-elections, which she described as a clear demonstration of the party’s strength.

She expressed gratitude to the PDP for providing her with the platform to serve.

“I wish to appreciate the party for finding me worthy of the services I have rendered so far. Please accept my esteemed regards,” her letter concluded.

However, she did not disclose her next political move.
