PDP factional BoT chair reveals real reason behind party’s crisis

Factional Chairman of the Peoples Democratic, PDP, Party Board of Trustees, BoT, Mao Ohuabunwa, has attributed the ongoing crisis ravaging the party to years of disobedience to its constitution and the unchecked personal ambitions of some of its leaders.
Ohuabunwa made this statement on Monday in an interview on Arise Television monitored by DAILY POST.

According to him, the internal wranglings are self-inflicted, stressing that they stemmed from a persistent disregard for the party’s founding rules.

“We got to this point for no other reason than disobedience to our own constitution. If we had kept to our laws and obeyed our own rules, we wouldn’t be where we are today. Unfortunately, we have refused to learn our lessons,” he said.

The ex-lawmaker, who now leads a parallel PDP BoT, added that his faction was formed to recover and reconcile the party, which, he claimed, had lost its moral compass.

He further explained that most of the crises within the PDP were driven by personal ambition and greed, accusing some members of treating the party merely as a vehicle for their presidential aspirations.
