The Financial Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State, Nasiru Yahaya Isa, has announced his resignation from both his position and the party, citing persistent internal crises, lack of internal democracy, and worsening factional divisions within the party.

In a resignation letter dated August 11, 2025, and addressed to the PDP State Chairman, Isa expressed his deep concerns over the ongoing struggles within the party, which he said had made it increasingly difficult for him to continue his role with the required integrity and commitment.

Naijaonpoint reports that Isa, a former Permanent Secretary in Sokoto State and founder of the Danfilinge Development Foundation, pointed to prolonged leadership wrangling and the defections of key party members, particularly to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), as major reasons for his departure.

He lamented that these issues had eroded both the trust of party members and the public’s confidence in the PDP.

“The persistent crises within our party have made it increasingly difficult for me to continue in this role with the integrity and commitment it demands,” Isa stated in his resignation letter.

He noted that the lack of internal democracy, deepening factionalism, and the exodus of long-standing members had created an environment that no longer aligned with his values or vision for effective political engagement.

Following consultations with friends and family, Isa revealed that his decision was made with the intention of finding a political environment more aligned with his principles, where he could contribute meaningfully to the political discourse in Sokoto State.

“I desire to join a political environment that aligns with my values and where I can make a meaningful contribution to the development of Sokoto State,” Isa added, underlining his commitment to effective political engagement.

Isa concluded by thanking the PDP for the opportunity to serve, stressing that the current internal issues within the party made his continued participation untenable.

He expressed hope for positive political change in Sokoto State, despite his resignation from the PDP.
