The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate for the Garki/Babura Federal Constituency by-election in Jigawa State, Auwalu Isah Manzo, along with his supporters, has decamped to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, Malam Garba Muhammad, confirmed the development to DAILY POST.
He said the defection followed the recent by-election, which was won by the APC candidate, Rabiu Mukhtar.
DAILY POST had reported that Mr. Rabiu Mukhtar of the APC polled 38,449 votes to defeat his main rival, Isah Auwalu Manzo of the PDP, who scored 13,519 votes.
Findings by our reporter revealed that the defection may not be unconnected to the recent crises that rocked the PDP at both state and national levels.
Malam Garba Muhammad added that Mr. Auwalu joined the APC due to the developmental projects being executed by the current administration at both state and federal levels.
He, however, promised to give his best to ensure the victory of the APC in the 2027 general election.
