The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC) has scheduled Tuesday, October 28, 2025, for the screening of aspirants contesting positions in the National Working Committee (NWC) ahead of its elective convention slated for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Chairman of the NCOC and Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, announced this in a statement on Thursday, fixing Monday, October 27, as the final deadline for submission of completed Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms.

According to him, “The screening of all aspirants for various National Offices in the 2025 PDP Elective National Convention has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 28, 2025. The screening is to hold at the National Convention Organising Committee Secretariat Conference Hall, Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja, at 2 pm, while the Screening Appeal has been slated for Thursday, 30th October, 2025.”

He urged aspirants and stakeholders to take note of the dates and comply accordingly.

The announcement comes as the PDP grapples with growing internal disputes ahead of the convention.

Supporters of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, are reportedly unhappy with the Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, citing disagreements over control of the party in the South-South and over zoning arrangements for key offices.

The crisis has spilt into the courts, with party chairmen from Imo and Abia States filing a suit against the Damagum-led NWC, accusing it of breaching the party’s constitution. Justice James Omotosho is expected to rule on the case by October 30.

Adding to the turmoil, PDP National Secretary Senator, Samuel Anyanwu, denied signing the notification letter to INEC regarding the convention, alleging forgery and calling for security agencies to investigate.

The party, however, dismissed his claim, raising fears that the ongoing disputes, legal battles, and accusations could threaten preparations for the November exercise.
