PDP Should Micro-Zone 2027 Presidency To South-East – Ulasi

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dan Ulasi, has called for fairness in the zoning of the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that the South-East deserves the slot.

Ulasi made this known on Friday while speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show.

Naijaonpoint reports that the PDP stalwart said, although the party had zoned the presidency to the South, equity demands that it should be further micro-zoned to the South-East, which remains the only geopolitical zone in the South yet to produce a president since the return to democracy in 1999.

“The party has zoned the presidency to the South. Yes, and if there is honesty, like you said, they should micro-zone it to the South-East, because virtually now we are the only zone, theoretically speaking, that have not had a presidency in this very dispensation,” he said.

Ulasi noted that the party was making deliberate efforts to reposition itself ahead of the polls.

He pointed out that during the party’s last National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, at least seven PDP governors were in attendance, which he described as a positive sign of unity.

“The last National Executive Meeting, we had almost seven of our governors. It was refreshing that everybody is now talking about how to reorganize the party, put it in a stronger footing for 2027, and other subsequent elections that are coming,” he added.

The PDP chieftain, however, cautioned that the party’s eventual success at the polls rests in God’s hands.

“Only God will answer that your question to say whether PDP will make the presidency in 2027. Only God knows who will be alive tomorrow morning. We have hope or desires to want to do something, if God wills,” Ulasi stressed.
