Pelican Valley, POWA collaborate on women empowerment

Pelican Valley Nigeria Limited has announced plans to collaborate with the Police Officers Wives Association to support women and families through empowerment initiatives.

The Chief Executive Officer of Pelican Valley, Dr Babatunde Adeyemo, made this known on Tuesday during a visit by a 13-member delegation of the Ogun State chapter of POWA, led by the Chairperson, Rev. Mrs Olubusola Ogunlowo, to the Pelican Valley Estate, Laderin, Abeokuta.

Adeyemo commended the leadership of POWA for its developmental initiatives aimed at improving the lives of police officers’ wives and children.

He praised the President of POWA and the wife of the Inspector-General of Police, Deaconess Elizabeth Egbetokun, for her commitment to the welfare of police widows and orphans.

“We are thrilled to have you here. It is a pleasure to host such an esteemed group of women making a significant impact in their communities,” he said. “Your commitment to supporting the welfare of police officers and their families is truly commendable.”

The real estate entrepreneur highlighted his long-standing familiarity with POWA, recalling his coverage of the association’s activities as a young reporter 20 years ago.

He lauded Rev. Ogunlowo for initiating strategic partnerships, adding that such collaborations would foster positive change.

Adeyemo reiterated that Pelican Valley, built on integrity and quality service delivery, remains committed to social responsibility.

Through its Oko Opo Foundation, the firm has been supporting widows, children, and underprivileged individuals.

He also recalled past contributions to the Nigeria Police, including donations of school bags and relief materials to the Police Children’s School, Eleweran, Abeokuta, and infrastructural support to the Ogun State Police Command.

“We believe a safe and secure environment is essential for societal prosperity. Our support for the Nigeria Police is a testament to our commitment to community development,” he added.

Rev. Ogunlowo, in her response, commended Adeyemo for his integrity and generosity towards widows, children, and the less privileged. She urged him to continue using his platform to uplift others.

“A lot of people in real estate don’t prioritise integrity, but I see that you do. Giving is a gift, and when God gives you a platform, you must use it to make an impact,” she said.

Pelican Valley and POWA affirmed their readiness to explore further partnerships to empower more women and families, emphasising the need for collective efforts to build stronger communities.
