“People will judge” – Baba-Ahmed slams northwest APC for endorsing Tinubu ahead of 2027

Former Special Adviser on Political Matters to President Bola Tinubu, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has criticized the recent endorsement of President Tinubu for a second term by the All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders in the North West.

He warned that voters in the region will ultimately judge all politicians based on their lived realities of violence, poverty, and neglect.

Baba-Ahmed, who recently resigned from his role in the presidency, made the remarks in a post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account following the endorsement event held over the weekend in Kaduna State.

During the meeting, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, moved a motion to endorse President Tinubu for re-election in 2027.

The motion was seconded by Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, and supported by other APC governors in the zone.

As part of the resolutions, the APC also offered automatic second-term tickets to sitting governors from the North West.

The party’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, praised President Tinubu’s administration for its commitment to the development of the North West and Nigeria at large.

But Baba-Ahmed strongly disagreed with the political fanfare, describing the endorsement as disconnected from the harsh realities faced by ordinary citizens in the region.

He wrote: “APC Govs in NW recently endorsed PBAT, endorsed themselves and every elected office holder and defectors from the region.

“They forgot the people who will judge all politicians against their exposure to violence, death and poverty. It’s almost as if they think people don’t matter.”
