‘Permanent Presidential Runner’ – Wike’s Aide Knocks Atiku Over Rivers LG Election Comment

Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has taken a swipe at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for faulting the conduct of last Saturday’s local government election in Rivers State.

Olayinka, in a strongly worded statement, dismissed Atiku’s criticism as ‘nonsensical,’ describing him as a ‘permanent presidential campaigner.’

Naijaonpoint reports that in the election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured victory in 20 local government areas, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won three LGAs. The total votes recorded for the winning chairmanship candidates across the 23 councils stood at 2,028,871.

Reacting to the results, Atiku alleged that a ‘powerful cabal’ was attempting to usurp the democratic interest of Rivers people. He urged the opposition to reject the outcome, insisting it was not a true reflection of the people’s will.

‘Someone Who Is Not Bold To Condemn Deborah’s Murder In Sokoto’

But in a post on 𝕏 (formerly Twitter), Olayinka blasted the former Vice President, questioning his moral standing to criticise the Rivers election.

“Permanent Presidential Runner, Atiku Abubakar is condemning Rivers State LG elections. Issorite. The same Atiku, who did a tweet condemning the murder of Deborah in Sokoto, and quickly deleted it?” Olayinka wrote.

He added: “Someone who is not bold, courageous and honest enough to condemn murder that was openly done, is condemning LG elections. Nonsensical Nonsense!”
