African Democratic Congress, ADC, has discarded the deception tag made by the former Labour Party’s presidential running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed.
ADC’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Jackie Wayas, informed Datti that LP’s ex-presidential candidate, Peter Obi affirmed his commitment to the coalition.
Datti had stirred anger in an interview on Channels Television when he accused the ADC coalition of deceiving Nigerians.
He had expressed his willingness to run again with Obi under the Labour Party.
However, Wayas expressed hope that Datti will also join the coalition like Obi.
In a statement issued on Wayas, Waya said: “Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed is a respected voice who has always stood for integrity and justice, and since the coalition is a collective effort that requires the strength and skills of all patriots, we sincerely hope he comes on board to contribute to this shared vision for a better Nigeria.
“His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi has publicly affirmed his dedication to the coalition and the adoption of ADC as the platform for the 2027 elections.
“In a public statement on July 3, 2025, Mr. Obi declared, and I quote: ‘Yesterday, the coalition members formally adopted the African Democratic Congress, ADC, for the 2027 Nigeria General Elections.”
Wayas said the coalition’s mandate is to ensure that Nigeria get good leaders in 2027.
