A lawyer and activist, Dele Farotimi, recently released from a correctional facility in Ekiti, received praise from the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for his unwavering dedication to Nigeria’s progress.

In a series of tweets today, the former Anambra State Governor expressed admiration for Farotimi’s resilience and commitment to good governance.

Obi visited Farotimi following his release from custody after being arrested by the Ekiti State Police Command on December 3 over allegations of defamation and cyberbullying.

The allegations were brought by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Aare Afe Babalola, who claimed Farotimi defamed him in a 116-page book titled Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System.

“Since his return from the correctional centre, I hadn’t had the chance to meet him,” Obi wrote.

“It was heartening to see him in good spirits and steadfast in his dedication to a better Nigeria.”

Describing Farotimi as a courageous advocate for good governance, Obi extended his wishes for a productive year as they continue their shared mission for national development.
