WATCH THE VIDEO HERE Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the 2023 Lagos State governorship election, has attributed his loss to the influence of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate. Jandor made this assertion during an appearance on Channels Television’s “Politics Today” on Tuesday, March 5, 2025. According to Jandor, his campaign had gained significant momentum before the February 25, 2023, elections. However, a sudden shift in voter dynamics, which he linked to Peter Obi’s popularity, altered the outcome. “We did everything, but that wave came and swallowed the whole thing. Nobody saw that coming,” Jandor explained. When asked if he would have won without Peter Obi’s influence in the presidential election, Jandor said, “Absolutely, I probably would have won the election at the governorship election.” The final results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) showed that incumbent Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won with 762,134 votes. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party secured 312,329 votes, while Jandor trailed with 62,449 votes. Jandor recently announced his departure from the PDP, citing internal party issues and betrayals as reasons for his exit.
