WATCH THE VIDEO HERE Nigerian gospel musician Nathaniel Bassey has been spotted, along with his wife, Sarah Bassey, posing for a picture with Nottingham Forest star Taiwo Awoniyi, Soccernet.ng reports. A picture shared by the Super Eagles star shows the Nigerian gospel artist with the former Union Berlin forward before their clash against Tottenham. Awoniyi, who was honoured by their visit, took to his social media page to express gratitude to Nathaniel Bassey for paying him a visit before the clash at the City Ground. “What an honour to have you, sir and ma. Thanks for all you do and for showing us what man can accomplish with such humility,” Awoniyi wrote on his Instagram feed. In the game, Forest bounced back from their back-to-back losses to Everton and Aston Villa to secure a narrow 2–1 victory against Tottenham at home. Thanks to first-half goals from Elliot Anderson and Chris Wood, Forest gained an early advantage. Meanwhile, Awoniyi came off the bench to replace Wood but had little impact before Tottenham striker Richarlison pounced on Pedro Porro’s pass to pull one back, though it was not enough to share the spoils. Awoniyi, compared to his 2023–24 season campaign—where he scored six goals in 20 domestic league games—has only scored one goal so far this season. With few games left in the league, the Nigerian will be hoping to prove his worth and play a significant role in their European qualification campaign this season.
