Nigerian football legend Mikel Obi has shared heartwarming moments captured during his intimate birthday celebration with his family, Soccernet.ng reports.
The former Super Eagles star, who also played for English Premier League club Chelsea, retired from professional football in September 2022 at the age of 35.
The football legend turned a new age yesterday, April 22. Obi took to his Instagram stories to share a glimpse of his family celebration.
In his post, the football star is captured alongside his lovely daughters as he cuts his birthday cake. He also revealed that the cake was baked with love by his girls.
Obi shares his twin daughters Ava and Mia, with his beautiful wife, Olga Allegra Diyachenko, who is the daughter of a Russian billionaire . The couple have been together since 2013.
The 37-year-old also received birthday wishes from his former club Chelsea, as well as fans and football enthusiasts alike.
Following his retirement, the Nigerian great has delved into other ventures, still within the football scene. Obi has transitioned into sports media and journalism, after a successful football career.
Obi currently co-hosts a football podcast tagged“The Obi One Podcast” alongside Scottish sports broadcaster, Chris Mchardy. The retired midfielder also made his Champions League punditry debut on Bein Sports in March.
