The Ondo State Police Command has condemned the attack on the Ipele Divisional Police Headquarters in Ose Local Government Area, which occurred on December 31, 2025, clarifying that no church was attacked during the incident.

Naijaonpoint reports that the Police command made the clarification in a statement signed by its Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abayomi Jimoh, on Thursday.

According to the statement, findings revealed that at about 9:41 p.m., a group of between 20 and 30 armed men stormed the police station, firing assault rifles and deploying explosives.

“The attackers set parts of the facility ablaze, leading to the destruction of sections of the building and some exhibits,” the statement said.

It added that no casualty was recorded as at the time of filing the report.

The police spokesperson noted that contrary to reports circulating on social media, no church was attacked during the incident.

Following the attack, a joint security patrol comprising the Police, Military, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and other security stakeholders was deployed to the area, but the assailants had fled before their arrival.

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Adebowale Lawal, described the attack as a reprehensible act against public peace and security.

He assured residents that the situation had been brought under control and urged members of the public to remain calm, while security operations continued to track down the perpetrators.
