Photos: Tinubu Meets APC Governors Ahead Of Crucial NEC Meeting

Tinubu and APC Governors

President Bola Tinubu met with Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday, ahead of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Thursday, July 24, in Abuja.

The meeting which held at the State House in Abuja, was behind closed doors.

It is understood that the President used the opportunity to communicate his position to the APC Governors ahead of the NEC meeting set for Thursday, in which the party may choose a new National Chairman to replace Abdullahi Ganduje, who resigned last month.

Meanwhile, Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), Hope Uzodinma, has disclosed that he and his colleagues met on Wednesday to discuss issues related to the affairs of the ruling party.

Uzodinma, however, stated that they have not reached a final conclusion on who would replace Abdullahi Ganduje as the APC National Chairman.

Naijaonpoint reports that the Imo State Governor disclosed this while briefing newsmen after a closed-door meeting with other APC governors in Abuja.

He noted that the final decision on who emerges as the substantive APC National Chairman would be taken by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).

“It would be premature for anyone to speculate at this point. Consultations are still ongoing,” he said.

He added that Wednesday’s closed-door meeting was part of preparations for the upcoming NEC meeting of the APC.

“This meeting was part of our regular consultations among governors and key stakeholders aimed at strengthening the party’s programmes and ensuring effective governance as the ruling party,” Uzodimma said.
