Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike; former Senate President, Bukola Saraki; and Vice President Kashim Shettima were among the dignitaries who attended the 65th birthday celebration of former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, in Lagos on Saturday.
Naijaonpoint reports that the event, held in the company of Fayose’s family, friends, and political associates, drew a crowd of high-profile personalities despite ongoing political tensions in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a post shared on his Facebook page, Saraki expressed delight at being part of the celebration.
The former Senate President wrote, “It was a pleasure to join His Excellency, Ayo Fayose, along with his family, friends, political associates, and other dignitaries in Lagos today to celebrate his 65th birthday.”
Birthday Clashes With PDP National Convention
Naijaonpoint reports that Fayose’s Birthday celebration in Lagos coincided with the PDP National Elective Convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Both events were happening simultaneously, deepening the divide within the opposition party.
Wike’s faction had reportedly made attempts to stop the convention through court orders, while the faction led by Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum insisted the convention must proceed.

The party’s internal crisis worsened on Saturday as the PDP announced the expulsion of Wike, Fayose and other prominent members over alleged anti-party activities.
The decision adds to the escalating tension surrounding the convention and the growing rift within the PDP’s leadership structure.
