Naijaonpoint reports that Kuti, in a video on Instagram, described the situation as a clear example of how business interests in Nigeria often escape proper regulation and responsibility, even when lives are lost.
He accused the business empire of operating in ways that would not be tolerated in other countries.
He pointed out that similar lawsuits abroad could have forced such companies to pay billions in compensation.
Kuti recalled that previous crashes involving Dangote trucks had killed many Nigerians, yet accountability was shifted.
The singer criticized the system that allows influential businesses to grow wealth at the expense of citizens, adding that ordinary Nigerians are left to bear the cost in lives and livelihood.
He said: “Since I don dey start this life, no man wey I don attack for Nigeria reach Dangote. No be say na because I want make him dash me money, or I wan go him house. I dey tell una, these people are vampire. His money is blood money.
“Nowhere in this world can you operate business the way this man operate business in our country. And you get away, and you still have that business. Civil lawsuit alone would have buried these companies. They would have paid billions upon billions of dollars in settling. 20 children were crushed by this man’s truck. You know wetin some influencers and government officials dey talk that time when people were saying this man must be brought to account?
“No be Dangote dey control him truck. He give the truck, he license the name to different companies make them fit dey use the name, but him no dey in charge, na agent dey in charge.’ That’s what they were telling me. These heartless people, because of what they will eat, it has not touched them. This man is a danger to the citizens of our country. The food, he use our land and our money to grow.
Can you afford it? The things he sells to the public, that’s why Nigerians cannot afford. Can you, do you understand?”
