Super Eagles defender Felix Agu has undergone successful injury to correct a syndesmosis ligament injury, Soccernet.ng reports.
Agu was named in the Super Eagles squad for the last set of 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin. With his quality, he would likely have gotten the nod to start at left-back instead of Bruno Onyemaechi.
Unfortunately for him, he sustained an injury during Werder Bremen’s Bundesliga game against St. Pauli last week.

Upon further assessment, it was discovered to be a syndesmosis ligament injury, which is high ankle injury.
In a recent report by Soccernet.ng, that injury will keep him out of action for a few months, which means that he will likely miss the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
In a related development, Werder Bremen shared a picture of Agu after he underwent successful surgery at the hospital.
He will now look to heal and undergo rehabilitation at Werder Bremen so he can return to action as soon as possible.
When Will Felix Agu defender Return To Action?
As it stands, Felix Agu’s return date is still up in the air. This is as Werder Bremen have not confirmed how long he will be sidelined.
But usually, a syndesmosis ligament injury of Agu’s kind takes between 3-6 months to fully recover.
It is also important to note that the 26-year-old defender does not have a great injury record. So the club will not want to rush him back into action.
Also, the Bundesliga will go on a one-month break in the second week of December. So, he won’t even have any game to play if he returns in December. As such, the Super Eagles star will likely return to action at the start of 2026.
