The leadership crisis that had bedevilled the Plateau State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) may have been brought to an end, as a new list by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) sighted by DAILY POST on Monday recognized Ambassador Hannatu Gagara as the authentic Chairperson of the party in the state.
The list contains the names of all chairmen of the ADC in all the 36 states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), along with their functional phone numbers, with Amb. Gagara listed as the authentic chairperson of the party in Plateau.
The ADC in Plateau State has been embroiled in a heated chairmanship tussle for several months, with Hon. Samuel Pam Gyang laying claim to the position of chairman of the party, but with the recent development, the controversy seems to have been brought to an end.
Before the emergence of the list, Amb. Gagara had, during a meeting of the party stakeholders, lambasted Gyang for parading himself as the party chairman.
She had stated that contrary to assertions made by Gyang, he was notably absent from meetings, despite his claims to the contrary regarding his position as State Chairman.
She frowned at a series of media appearances where he addressed himself as the ADC chairman, an action she said generated confusion, was unbefitting of the people of Plateau State, and unacceptable to the party.
Gagara also stated that the party was calling on Gyang and others who may misconstrue the ADC coalition’s objectives to identify with its true purpose, which is to unify and support states in building a more robust and inclusive party that benefits all.
