Caleb Mutfwang, Plateau State governor, has formally withdrawn his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He conveyed his decision in a letter dated December 29, 2025, and addressed to Dasjak Sunday Longyol, the PDP chairman of his Ampang West Ward.
The letter, which surfaced in Jos on Thursday, indicated that the governor was seeking a new political base to advance what he described as better governance for Plateau State.
The governor stated that his exit was influenced by his desire for purposeful administration, clear direction, and improved service delivery.
The letter, signed personally by the governor, read, “I write to formally notify you of my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party with immediate effect.”
“I sincerely appreciate the PDP for providing me the political platform to participate in the democratic process.
“I appreciate the support of party leaders, members, and supporters at all levels during my time in the party, and I remain grateful for the trust reposed in me.
“Given the realities of the moment, and guided by my commitment to purposeful leadership, clarity of direction, and service delivery, I am compelled to seek an alternative political platform.
“Please accept the assurances of my highest regards.”
The governor did not disclose his next political destination in the letter.
However, his departure followed prolonged speculation about his next move, with reports indicating that he had aligned with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
