Rapper Playboi Carti has been charged with misdemeanor assault after a confrontation in Utah that allegedly involved his girlfriend, a security guard, and a limousine driver, according to local authorities.
The incident took place on October 2 in Wasatch County, where deputies responded to reports of a fight near River Road and U.S. Route 40. Officials said the 30-year-old rapper, born Jordan Terrell Carter, was among several people questioned at the scene.
Police documents reviewed by local outlet KSL indicate the conflict began while Carti and his entourage were being driven from Park City to Orem for a rehearsal connected to his Antagonist Tour. The driver, later identified by TMZ as Carl Reynolds, reportedly told investigators that Carti and his girlfriend began arguing during the ride.
The driver said he pulled over to separate the pair into different vehicles after the dispute escalated. According to the report, the situation intensified once everyone exited the cars. Investigators allege Carti struck his girlfriend during the altercation. The driver told police he did not see the alleged hit but saw the woman appearing distressed afterward.
Authorities said Reynolds also accused the rapper of hitting him in the face while his attention was turned elsewhere. Carti allegedly confessed to striking Reynolds “for stopping in a weird place and dropping them off.” His girlfriend told officers that she was the one who hit the driver. Deputies later filed a misdemeanor assault charge against Carti in connection with the encounter.
Carti was in Utah ahead of his October 3 concert at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City. The Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the case remains under investigation.
