The youngest daughter of Nigeria’s late former President, Muhammadu Buhari, Noor Buhari, has shared a deeply emotional tribute to her father, describing his passing as a moment of profound grief and spiritual reflection.
In a post on her Instagram story exactly one week after her father’s death, Noor begs Nigerians to continue to ‘pray for our Daddy’.
She expressed the weight of Buhari’s absence, stating that the days since his burial had been unusually quiet and emotionally heavy.
“It has been a week since Daddy returned to his Creator. Every day since has felt quieter, heavier, and not quite the same,” she wrote.
‘Some Graves Brighter Than Thrones’
Sharing a throwback video capturing her parents during happier moments, Noor included a reflective quote which reads: “Some graves [are] brighter than thrones. Because their owners lived for no one but Allah.”
The statement appeared to speak not only to her father’s piety but also to his legacy, suggesting that true honour lies in spiritual devotion rather than earthly power.
Prayers For Eternal Peace
Noor, who has largely maintained a low profile, offered heartfelt prayers for her father’s forgiveness and eternal peace.
“I pray Allah showers him with mercy, forgives all his shortcomings, and grants him a peaceful resting place among the righteous,” she wrote.
“May his grave be a garden of Jannah, filled with light and ease.”
Her words struck a chord with many Nigerians who have continued to mourn the passing of the former military ruler and two-term civilian president.
She further extended gratitude to Nigerians and supporters who have stood by the family during the mourning period.
Noor added: “Thank you to everyone who has called, prayed, messaged, and held us through this. Your duas and kindness have meant more than words can say.
“Please keep Daddy in your prayers. May we all be reunited with our loved ones in Jannah one day. Ameen.”
