The Ogun state police command says Anthony Joshua, a world-renowned boxer, is receiving medical care following a road traffic crash along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Ogun state.

Earlier today, a Lexus Jeep carrying Joshua collided with a stationary truck near the Sinoma area, close to the Sagamu axis of the expressway.

The crash happened around 12 noon, and Joshua, who was seated at the rear of the vehicle, reportedly sustained only minor injuries.

In a statement, Oluseyi Babaseyi, Ogun police spokesperson, said the circumstances surrounding the collision are under investigation.

The police confirmed that two other occupants of the vehicle died at the scene of the accident.

“The vehicle conveying Anthony Joshua, a Lexus SUV, was involved in the accident under circumstances that are currently being investigated,” the statement reads.

“He was seated in the rear of the vehicle, sustained minor injuries, and is receiving medical attention.

“Tragically, two other passengers in the vehicle lost their lives at the scene, and the deceased have been conveyed to Livewell Hospital Morgue, Sagamu.”

The police spokesperson added that a comprehensive investigation has commenced and that further details will be made public as inquiries progress.
