The Nigeria Police Force has recorded another breakthrough in its fight against kidnapping and gun running, with the arrest of eight high-profile suspects and the recovery of firearms in Kaduna and Delta States.

The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed in a statement on Sunday that the coordinated operations were executed by tactical units acting on credible intelligence.

In Kaduna, operatives of the state command rescued one Hussaini Ibrahim, who was abducted from Jagindi Tasha Village, Jema’a Local Government Area.

Adejobi explained that the kidnappers abandoned the victim in a nearby forest under security pressure. A follow-up investigation led to the arrest of four suspects identified as Umar Yusuf Jabiri of Jagindi Tasha, Buhari Muhammad a.k.a. “General” of Bayya village, Ahmadu Nasiru of Gidan Waya, and Zakari Saleh.

Recovered from them were one AK-47 rifle and two locally fabricated AK-47 rifles.

In a related operation, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit intercepted a suspicious waybill from Jos, Plateau State, bound for Gusau, Zamfara State.

“A detailed search revealed an AK-47 rifle concealed in a sack,” Adejobi said.

Investigations led to the arrest of two suspects, Abdulmumin Sani and Naziru Musa, who had arrived in Gusau to take delivery of the firearm.

Similarly, operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), backed by the X-Squad and Buffalo Patrol units, raided a hideout along Ibusa Road in Delta State.

One Chiadiji Collins, a.k.a. “Smooth,” aged 42, suspected to be behind several abductions in Ibusa, Ogwashi-Uku, and Asaba, was arrested.

A search of his residence in Ewulu community, Aniocha South LGA, led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle and 40 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition. Another suspect, Ezechie Andrew, was also apprehended with two pump-action guns and two cartridges.

The Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, praised the tactical precision and bravery of the officers.

“These successful operations reflect proactive intelligence gathering,” he said, reaffirming the Force’s commitment to intelligence-led policing, inter-agency collaboration, and community engagement.

He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant, provide timely information, and support security agencies in the fight against crime.
