Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have arrested a notorious kidnapper and armed robbery kingpin, Mohammed Bammi, popularly known as Zomo, in Doma Local Government Area.
The command’s spokesperson, Ramhan Nansel, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, noting that the suspect, who had escaped arrest last month when members of his gang were captured, was eventually apprehended during a clearance operation at Doka Forest.
According to Nansel, Zomo attempted to resist arrest but was swiftly overpowered by the police.

“In a desperate bid to evade capture, he pulled a knife to attack the officers but was swiftly overpowered and arrested,” he said.
The suspect later led detectives to the gang’s hideout in Alagye village, where arms, ammunition, and security uniforms were recovered.
Items recovered from the hideout included:
One pump-action rifle (Breech No. P331551)
One locally made AK-47 rifle with a magazine
Two live ammunition and five cartridges
One knife and a rope
Two Tecno handsets
A pair of NSCDC uniforms
Five Other Suspects Nabbed
In a separate sting operation, undercover operatives stormed Gidan Taku village in Awe Local Government Area and arrested five suspected members of a 10-man kidnapping syndicate.
The suspects, Michael Ato, Richard Ato, Alom Bernard, Hangior Ato, and Jacob Hunde a.k.a. Okocha, were linked to the abduction of a woman, Blessing John.
“Two locally fabricated AK-47 rifles and one live ammunition were recovered from them,” the statement added.
Investigations also revealed that the same gang abducted the victim’s husband, John Ada Kuje, in April 2024, collected ransom, and later released him.
All arrested suspects have been transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Shetima Mohammed, commended the operatives for the breakthrough and urged them to sustain the momentum.
He charged officers “to intensify the heat on criminals until Nasarawa is completely free of kidnappers and armed robbers.”
