Police begin recruitment of 50,000 constables

Police Service Commission

The Police Service Commission (PSC), in partnership with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has announced the commencement of the recruitment process for 50,000 police constables, following the approval of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The recruitment, according to the PSC, aligns with the President’s directive to reinforce community policing, improve internal security, and expand manpower within the police force.

President Tinubu had, on November 26, 2025, declared a nationwide security emergency and ordered the Police and Armed Forces to embark on massive recruitment to tackle worsening insecurity across the country.

In a statement on Thursday, the Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Torty Kalu, said the recruitment portal will be open to eligible Nigerians from December 15, 2025, to January 25, 2026.

The statement read in part: “The PSC, in collaboration with the NPF, is pleased to announce the commencement of recruitment of 50,000 Police Constables into the Nigeria Police Force, as directed by President Bola Tinubu. This Presidential directive aims at strengthening community policing, enhancing internal security, and expanding the manpower base of the Force. The Commission has accordingly approved the opening of the recruitment portal for applications from eligible Nigerians.”
