Police Charge Anthony Joshua’s Driver To Court

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that Adeniyi Kayode, the driver of the Lexus SUV involved in the fatal accident that claimed the lives of two associates of Anthony Joshua, has been charged to court.

Naijaonpoint reports that Kayode, aged 46, was arraigned on Friday before a Magistrate Court sitting in Sagamu, Ogun State.

The development was disclosed in a brief statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Police Command, Mr Oluseyi Babaseyi.

According to the police spokesperson, the court adjourned the matter until January 20, 2026, for further proceedings.

However, the police did not disclose the specific charges preferred against the defendant or provide additional details on the circumstances surrounding the accident.

The statement read, “The Ogun State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the driver of the Lexus SUV involved in the Anthony Joshua accident case, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode (male), aged 46, was charged to the Sagamu Magistrate Court today, 2nd January, 2026 and the case has been adjourned to 20th January, 2026.”

The police action followed the earlier arrest of the driver after the tragic crash, which occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and resulted in the death of two members of Joshua’s team.

Babaseyi had earlier confirmed the arrest, noting that investigations were ongoing.

The driver of the Lexus SUV is currently in custody in connection with the Anthony Joshua accident case. Investigations are ongoing,” he stated.
