A police inspector and two civilians were killed in an attack on a joint patrol team by unidentified gunmen in the Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, the police have confirmed.
The deadly incident occurred on December 14, 2025, at about 6:30 p.m. along the Ajimaka Village road, en route to Rukubi town.
The victims were part of a patrol team attached to Operation Restore Peace and were conducting a routine patrol alongside local vigilante members when they were ambushed.
Victims are Inspector Jampi Mbursa (Police), Julius Igbogh (Civilian from Ajimaka Village) and Raphaeal Julius (Civilian from Ajimaka Village).
According to Zagagola Makama, the assailants successfully carted away the inspector’s AK-47 rifle, which contained 30 rounds of live ammunition, before fleeing the scene.
The victims were rushed to Rukubi General Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed their deaths. Their bodies have been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary.
The police command confirmed that efforts are currently ongoing to recover the stolen firearm and track down those responsible for the attack.
