Police Officers Storm Farmer’s House Without Warrant, Detain Him, Extort ₦1.2 Million

A Nigerian police officers has been accused of illegally detaining a farmer and extorting ₦1.2 million from him after storming his house without an arrest warrant.

This was revealed in a post shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) by human rights activist @HarrisonBbi18.

According to ..., the incident occurred on May 16, 2025, when officers attached to AIG Zone 7, Abuja, allegedly invaded the home of Emmanuel Pete, a fish farmer who also runs an Airbnb business.

Despite searching his house and finding nothing incriminating, the officers reportedly detained him and instilled fear until he was forced to transfer ₦1,210,000 to an account they provided.

Harrison wrote: “₦1,210,000 allegedly extorted by officers attached to AIG Zone 7, Abuja. On May 16, 2025, the residence of Emmanuel Pete was invaded without a warrant.”

“Nothing was found, yet he was taken into custody, threatened, and coerced into transferring the money. He was released once the transaction was confirmed.”

... further alleged that the victim was warned and threatened not to report the incident, and now fears for his safety.

Harrison called on the police authorities to investigate the matter, stating that the officers’ actions tarnish the image of the force and enable criminal behavior under the guise of law enforcement.
