WATCH THE VIDEO HERE Police Published By: Paul Dada By Jethro Ibileke Operatives of Ugbowo Police Division of Edo State Command have engaged some suspected kidnappers who snatched a Mercedes Benz C350 car from its owner at gun point. A statement by the Command’s spokesman, SP Moses Joel Yamu, disclosed that at about 9.15 pm on the fateful day, operatives of the Division encountered the suspects after responding to a distress call from the victims. The victim, Valentine Igbinevbo, of 19th Street Ugbowo, was driving in his silver-colored Mercedes Benz C350 car with registration number KWL 195 KC. The hoodlums reportedly snatched the car at gun point and his friend, one Iyobo Ighodaro (21) was abducted in the car from his hostel. “In a swift response, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) CSP John O. Emmanuel mobilized and personally led surveillance team, traced the suspects to their hideout in Egor where they were negotiating for ransom using the victim’s phone. “On sighting the Police, a gun battle ensued where one male suspect, whose identity is yet known sustained fatal gunshot injuries and was rushes to the hospital but was pronounced dead, while his second is believed to have narrowly escaped with gunshot injuries. The operatives successfully recovered the vehicle and rescued the abducted victim unhurt and has been reunited with his loved ones after receiving medical attention. Items recovered from the suspects included one cut to size gun, one live cartridge, a cutlass and three phones of different make. “The corpse of the suspect was deposited at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH),” Yamu disclosed. Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, Nemi Iwo, has commended the DPO of Ugbowo Division and his operatives for their effort in combating crime.
