The Vice-Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections, Datti Baba-Ahmed, has said that politicians and government functionaries are the problems of insecurity in Nigeria.
Naijaonpoint reports that Baba-Ahmed made this allegation on Tuesday while responding to questions in an interview on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television.
He also claimed that insecurity in Nigeria has been part of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He said, “Insecurities are brought into Nigeria in the pre-2015 elections. These are even small ones. My argument is that insecurity is part of the APC. That is my candid and formed opinion.
“I have given you three solid statements about the fact that politicians and government functionaries are the problems of insecurity in Nigeria. These facts are undisputed.”
In other news, Baba-Ahmed recently accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), of conducting a fraudulent and bad election in 2023.
Baba-Ahmed stated that posterity would judge the electoral commission for the manner in which it declared the result of the 2023 general elections and left Nigeria in its current state.
Part of his words read, “The question you’re asking me about INEC, I have never been a critic of INEC. I don’t have energy to spend on criticising INEC. INEC conducted a fraudulent and bad election, which is not, up to now, consistent with the Nigerian Constitution, the declaration itself, and I stated it that they have finished us.”
