Port Harcourt Refinery: NNPCL Dismisses Viral Recruitment Notice

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has advised the public to ignore false recruitment announcements related to the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC).

Naijaonpoint learnt a fraudulent recruitment notice allegedly by the Port Harcourt refinery has been disseminated across various online platforms.

In a statement issued by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd, Olufemi O. Soneye, it was emphasized that there is currently no recruitment taking place for the refinery.

The Company further clarified that there is no distinct recruitment process for the Port Harcourt Refinery apart from the one initiated last year, which encompasses all operations of NNPC Ltd.

Successful candidates from the Computer-Based Aptitude Test are scheduled to advance to the interview phase this week.

“The purported recruitment link being circulated in various online platforms is the handiwork of fraudsters who are keen on taking advantage of the newly revamped Port Harcourt Refinery to fleece unsuspecting members of the public with a phantom recruitment announcement.

“We, therefore, call on members of the public to be wary of the ploy and not fall for it,” the Company stated.

Meanwhile, a former presidential spokesman, Doyin Okupe, has stated that he was once sceptical about the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) ability to deliver good results.

According to him, he and ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo thought that nothing positive could come out of NNPCL.

Okupe said this in a statement he issued to mark the NNPCL Group Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari’s 60th birthday.

He apologized to Kyari for being dismissive of his leadership ability, whilst expressing his admiration for the NNPCL boss’s remarkable achievement.

According to Kyari, “I write today with a deep sense of humility and genuine admiration for the remarkable achievements of Mr. Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), as he marks his 60th birthday.

“It is no secret that I, along with many others, was once a vocal critic of NNPCL and its leadership. In fact, like my former boss, President Olusegun Obasanjo, I shared the belief that nothing positive could come from the NNPCL, and I openly expressed scepticism over its ability to deliver on its promises.

“I was, at that time, dismissive of the leadership of Mr. Mele Kyari, and I even laughed at the very idea of NNPCL’s creation.”
