Controversial singer Habeed Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been arraigned at the Federal High Court in Ota, Ogun State, facing nine criminal charges. The charges, confirmed by Ogun State Police spokesperson Oluseyi Babaseyi, include assault, theft, causing harm, and resisting arrest.
Portable’s arraignment follows a viral video released on Sunday that showed him in police custody. He is reportedly facing these charges due to a complaint filed by his estranged partner, Ashabi Simple. Authorities allege that Portable attacked Ashabi and several police officers, as well as other individuals, at his bar in Iyana Ilogbo on New Year’s Day. The victims named in the case include Ileyemi Damilola, Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi, and Ebuka Odah.
Additionally, Portable is accused of stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300, valued at N12 million, which belonged to Ileyemi Damilola, and selling it through Wally Dex Auto.
In court, two of Ashabi Simple’s siblings testified regarding the alleged assault, although she was not present. The police also claimed that Portable obstructed and assaulted a female officer, Inspector Ogungbe Olayemi, while she was on duty.
The presiding judge denied Portable bail, emphasizing the need to hear from the allegedly assaulted officer before making a decision. As a result, Portable has been remanded in custody, with a fresh bail hearing scheduled for January 19.
