Alix Lapri, recognized by many as Effie Morales from Power and its spinoff Power Book II: Ghost, was taken into custody in DeKalb County, Georgia, last week.

The 28-year-old actress and singer-songwriter, whose full name is Alexus Lapri Geie, was arrested on August 10, facing charges of disorderly conduct and cruelty to children in the third degree. Records show she was booked into the DeKalb County Jail shortly before 5 p.m. on a Monday.

Lapri was released after spending just over 24 hours behind bars. At this time, further details about the incident or any related court documents have not been disclosed.

Originally from Kansas City, Lapri began her career in the music industry, signing with Crown World Entertainment in 2011. She gained attention through collaborations with Jacob Latimore, including a popular cover of Usher and Alicia Keys’ “My Boo.” She released her debut EP the following year and soon transitioned into acting, ultimately landing her breakout role as Effie.

Lapri has also appeared in the 2018 film Den of Thieves alongside Gerard Butler and 50 Cent.

This week, the actress has been posting on social media and appears to be working on a new project.

She has not addressed her alleged arrest.
