Severely ill and eight months pregnant, Babangida was denied any medical care during the ordeal, forced to give birth in the forest with only frightened fellow captives for support.
She described the harrowing night of the attack when gunshots shattered her community’s peace, followed by a brutal trek through dense forest without shoes or food. “When it was time for me to give birth, the bandits offered no help. They were just looking at me,” she said.
Despite initial denials, security agencies confirmed the abduction of 30 residents, igniting public outrage and calls for urgent government action as bandits continue to hold many captive in Southern Kaduna’s dangerous terrain.
