A former Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Audu Aliyu, has stated that the present administration is disconnected from the people.

In an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Tuesday, Aliyu asserted that the administration is driven by isolation rather than collaboration, adding that key advisers and technocrats were similarly sidelined.

He questioned the logic behind implementing major reforms without engaging core team members.

He said, “He (President Tinubu) doesn’t want to be reached. Any leader who wants to be reached will be reached.

“I’m not the only one. Dr. Baba Hakim Ahmed, a Special Adviser on Economy, even he hasn’t had access.

“You can’t be talking about economic reform, which is supposed to be a big step without sitting down with those driving the reform. It means we are running from a script that exists only in your head.

“We have credible, exceptional people who can manage resources and deliver for every citizen. But the only way this happens is if we allow for healthy competition where one man is not afraid of others shining,” he said.

He also emphasised the need to value every role and foster a culture of collaboration rather than command.

“We need to get used to celebrating every position. Appreciate every man. Encourage collaboration.

“That is what we should be looking out for,” he said.
