PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu held a private meeting with Nigeria’s top military brass today at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The purpose of the meeting has not been disclosed, but it follows a recent reshuffling of the country’s military leadership.
Among the attendees were the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyode; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Kelvin Aneke; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas; Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major General EAP Undiendeye; and Chief of Army Staff, Major General Waidi Shaibu.
The meeting is believed to be related to the country’s security architecture, though details remain scarce.
This meeting comes just days after President Tinubu announced significant changes to the military hierarchy.
General Christopher Musa was replaced by Oluyede, a former Chief of Army Staff, while Major General EAP Undiendeye was retained as the Chief of Defence Intelligence.
Critics, however, have raised concerns, with some alleging that the reshuffle is linked to an attempted coup.
The opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called for transparency from the government, demanding a clear explanation of the reasons behind the reshuffle.
This move is seen as part of the president’s broader efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s national security framework.
