Gambian-born actress and Nollywood personality, Princess Shyngle, has raised alarm that some African Americans are planning to stage a protest against African-owned businesses in the United States.

Naijaonpoint reports that she made the statement on her Instagram story, where she mentioned that the protest is expected to take place on August 1, 2025.

According to her, the goal is to boycott African businesses operating in America.

She also expressed confusion about why such a protest would even be considered and questioned the timing.

“So, African Americans are starring a protest August 1st to boycott all African businesses in America. Why wait till August 1st though you’ll can start now,” she wrote.

So far, no official organization has confirmed any such protest, and no clear reason has been given for the supposed action.

In other news, Nollywood actress, Yvonne Jegede, has shared how she ended up in the iconic 2004 music video for 2Baba’s hit song, African Queen, saying it was not something she planned.

Naijaonpoint reports that she revealed during an interview that she was initially uninterested when the director reached out to her.

At the time, she was focused on building her acting career and had no interest in appearing in music videos.

According to her, she even turned down the offer without thinking much of it.
