Production manager Anierobi Courage, also known as Nwa South, has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a Nollywood crew member on the set of the movie Lagos to Opulence.
The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, involved a violent altercation between Courage and the head of makeup, Mary Chizzy Eze.
Naijaonpoint reports that a viral video making the rounds on social media shows Courage and the makeup artist engaged in a fight as several people try to separate them.
In the clip, Courage was seen hitting Mary and holding her by the neck before others intervened.
According to a statement released on Wednesday from the film crew community, the assault happened after Mary complained about the poor accommodation provided for the crew, alleging that 15 female crew members were housed in one room.
The statement read, “On the 28th of October, 2025, on the set of Caddilly Production’s Lagos to Opulence, a production manager named ANIEROBI COURAGE A.K.A. NWA SOUTH, physically and violently assaulted the head of makeup, Mary Chizzy Eze, on set.
“The production manager violently hit and strangled the makeup H.O.D. for speaking up against ill and unequal treatment among the crew, as shown in the video evidence we received. He has now been arrested, while the makeup artist has received medical care.”
The community condemned what it described as Courage’s “violent and animalistic behaviour” and urged filmmakers to blacklist him for six months while the police continue their investigation.
“As a community, we strongly condemn this violent and animalistic behaviour, the inhumane accommodation conditions on the same set, where 15 female crew members were lodged in one room,” it added.
“This level of disregard for human dignity is unacceptable. We stand firmly against all forms of abuse, assault and crew maltreatment.”
Reports online indicate that Courage, who has worked as a casting director on several Nollywood projects, was taken into custody after the incident, while Mary was treated for injuries.
The Nigerian Film Crew Community also called on guilds and producers to ensure better welfare conditions for crew members on movie sets.
