Sean “Diddy” Combs is hoping to walk free from jail on Friday (October 3) after his sentencing hearing, but prosecutors are requesting that the disgraced music mogul be sentenced to 11 years behind bars.
In their filing, prosecutors claim Diddy is “unrepentant” and should be penalized after he “engaged in violence and put others in fear.”
“Consistent with those cases and based on the corroborated evidence presented at trial, this Court should impose a sentence of no less than 135 months’ imprisonment,” the submission reads.
Their request is in stark contrast to Diddy’s defense team, who are asking the judge to sentence him to just 14 months, which could allow him to be freed this week.
“The defendant tries to recast decades of abuse as simply the function of mutually toxic relationships,” prosecutors wrote in their filing. “But there is nothing mutual about a relationship where one person holds all the power and the other ends up bloodied and bruised.”
Diddy’s ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, penned a letter to the judge, stating she is afraid for her family if he is released from jail, and claims she has moved her family out of New York.
