Gun charges against rapper Soulja Boy have been dropped after prosecutors declined to move the case forward, citing a lack of evidence.
Earlier this week, the “Crank That” rapper was arrested following a traffic stop for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm when a gun was spotted in the car.
He was previously convicted of carrying a loaded gun in 2014 and, after spending time behind bars, is not allowed legally to carry a weapon.
Soulja Boy has faced multiple civil lawsuits for alleged sexual assault and domestic abuse in the years since.
He’s already lost two trials, with jury verdicts totaling over $4 million in cases brought by ex-girlfriend Kayla Myers and a former personal assistant.
Another ex, who remains anonymous, has a pending suit claiming he assaulted her while she was pregnant. The rapper denied the allegations.
“The district attorney never filed charges. I was never charged or convicted of this, criminally,” he told Rolling Stone at the time. “So, to be accused of this civilly is beyond me. I’ve never done any of the things they’re accusing me of. I just feel like this is very unfair.”
