THE Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stated that he has not yet received a letter requesting the use of Eagle Square for a planned protest scheduled to begin on August 1.

Wike made this statement today during a town hall meeting with key stakeholders in the FCT, ahead of the demonstrations tagged the #EndBadGovernance protest.

He mentioned that no official request had been submitted to his office regarding the use of Eagle Square for the proposed protest.

The FCT minister emphasized that protesters should not rely solely on social media to communicate with his office, but should instead use the proper channels.

Wike had previously cautioned against the protest, saying, “For those intending to protest on the 1st, FCT is not available for such activities,” and urged residents to refrain from participating in such actions.

Attendees of the meeting today included FCT Minister (State) Mariya Mahmoud, area council chairpersons, traditional leaders, representatives from religious organizations, political parties, and groups representing women and youth, among others.

The purpose of the meeting today was to establish a communication link between the FCT administration and the residents of the capital, allowing them to express their grievances regarding the current leadership and discuss potential solutions.
