THE Police Service Commission (PSC), in partnership with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has announced a two-week extension of the ongoing recruitment exercise for 50,000 police constables.

In a statement signed by the Head of Protocol and Public Affairs of the Commission, Torty Njoku Kalu, the PSC disclosed that the application portal, which opened on December 15, 2025, will now close on February 8, 2026.

The extension follows the receipt of more than 400,000 applications nationwide, as well as a review that revealed uneven participation across different states of the federation.

While states such as Adamawa, Benue, and Kaduna recorded high numbers of applicants, others—including Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra—reported significantly lower submission rates.

According to the Commission, the decision to extend the deadline is aimed at promoting fair and balanced representation of all states in the recruitment process.

The PSC urged eligible Nigerians, particularly those from states with low application figures, to apply through the official recruitment portal at npfapplication.psc.gov.ng.

It also called on state governments, local councils, traditional institutions, religious bodies, community leaders, and other stakeholders to mobilise and sensitise qualified candidates within their communities ahead of the new deadline.

The PSC and the Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring a transparent, credible, and merit-based recruitment process.
