Raila Odinga’s outspoken supporter, Calvince Okoth, popularly known as Gaucho, has dismissed claims that the late Raila Odinga was the one funding his lifestyle. Speaking during an interview on The Obinna Show, Gaucho clarified that he has always been independent financially and that his comfortable life is a result of his own hard work and connections, not handouts from the ODM leader.

Gaucho revealed that he lives in a house where he pays a monthly rent of Ksh 70,000, and he has never relied on public transport. “I don’t use matatus — I move around in Uber,” he said, adding that people should stop assuming that he lived off Raila’s support.

He went on to describe Raila Odinga as a mentor and father figure, saying that being close to him opened several doors. “Baba never gave me money directly, but his name helped me land many business deals. I will continue getting such opportunities because Raila’s legacy will live on,” Gaucho said.

Addressing claims that he might go broke now that Raila is gone, Gaucho dismissed them with confidence, saying he is financially stable and will continue living the same lifestyle he has always enjoyed.

“People should stop saying I’ll suffer because Baba is no more. I’m still rich, and my life continues as usual,” he said.

Gaucho concluded by saying that he will continue upholding Raila’s legacy and values, adding that the best way to honour Baba’s memory is to stay strong and focused.
