According to Adejobi, such actions amount to cyberbullying, which extends beyond the boundaries of free speech or constructive criticism. He wrote, “Directly cursing someone online is cyberbullying, not an exercise of freedom of expression or criticism. Cyberbullying, distinct from defamation, is a criminal offense and punishable. Be guided.” Reacting to Adejobi’s post on X, Felix Abayomi, tweeting under the handle #felabayomi, questioned, “When does cursing become a crime? I look forward to the day someone will challenge these laws.” Another user, tweeting anonymously as #kingkhone4real, commented, “If that’s the case, all Nigerians should already be in prison.” In support of Adejobi’s position, #omoopee_ wrote, “You are absolutely right, sir. Raining curses and engaging in cyberbullying is not freedom of expression but a harmful act. We must all learn to express ourselves responsibly.”
