EXCLUSIVE: Xzibit Sued by Ex-Wife Over Cannabis Empire… She Says He Cut Her Out of a $100 Million Brand
Rapper Xzibit is back in court — and this time, the drama isn’t about music. It’s about marijuana money.
His ex-wife Krista Joiner has filed a new federal lawsuit claiming that Xzibit pushed her out of a cannabis brand they built together, and she says the stakes are massive. According to the filing, the company is now worth well over $100 million, and she wants her cut.
The legal battle centers around the Brass Knuckles cannabis brand, a marijuana line publicly tied to Xzibit that launched in 2016 — right in the middle of their marriage. Under California’s community property laws, Krista says that means the business belongs to both of them.
And she says she didn’t just help — she built it.
According to the lawsuit, Krista handled everything: the branding, packaging, product development, marketing, hiring, sales systems, and daily operations. She claims she was the brains and the engine behind the brand’s success.
And it worked.
The company reportedly pulled in tens of millions in revenue, with internal valuations climbing past $100 million in just a few years. That’s when things, according to Krista, started to get messy.
Krista filed for divorce in February 2021. And she says that filing triggered an automatic court order that prevented either of them from transferring marital assets without consent.
But she claims Xzibit ignored it.
According to the lawsuit, in December 2022, Xzibit allegedly assigned three federally registered Brass Knuckles trademarks to a company called Hero Brands — without her approval. And that’s not all.
She says those same trademarks were later sold again through another asset deal, even though they had already been transferred once. Krista believes the transactions were structured to look legitimate, while keeping the brand’s ownership inside a tight circle of Xzibit’s business partners.
In her filing, she claims Hero Brands is controlled by people who already had financial interests in Brass Knuckles — and who knew the trademarks were marital property and still protected by the divorce restrictions.
Despite that, the company has continued to sell products under the Brass Knuckles name and operate as if nothing happened.
Now, Krista says Xzibit is trying to rewrite history and erase her role in building the cannabis company from the ground up — all so he can keep the profits for himself.
And those profits are huge.
According to the lawsuit, the brand is currently pulling in more than $1 million per month.
Krista is asking the court to undo the trademark transfers, restore ownership, and stop Hero Brands from using the name. She also wants the trademark records corrected to reflect what she says is the truth — that this was a company built during their marriage, and that she has a rightful stake in it.
In other words, this isn’t just a divorce fight.
It’s a full-blown war over a cannabis empire.
