Rapper Young Bleed, best known for his collaborations with No Limit Records in the late ’90s, has died.
He was 51.
His family confirmed that the Baton Rouge native, real name Glenn Clifton Jr., died Saturday following complications from a brain aneurysm.
The rapper’s eldest son, Ty’Gee Ramon, shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram Monday, writing that his father had “gained his wings.” Ramon added that he plans to honor his father’s legacy and continue his musical vision.
Young Bleed was rushed to the hospital in late October after suffering a brain aneurysm caused by internal bleeding. The medical emergency occurred just days after his performance at the Cash Money Verzuz No Limit event at ComplexCon.
According to Tameka Long, the mother of the rapper’s 10-year-old son, Young Bleed had long struggled with high blood pressure and a heart condition. He was placed in the ICU on a ventilator following the aneurysm.
Ramon told followers that his father had never dealt with “real health issues” before but confirmed that he took medication regularly for his blood pressure.
Born and raised in Baton Rouge, Young Bleed gained fame in the late 1990s for his breakout single, “How Ya Do Dat” featuring Master P and C-Loc, became a regional anthem and helped launch his debut album My Balls and My Word, which went gold.
