Raven-Symoné’s Wife Drops Bombshell: Says Raven Broke Up With Her Because She “Wasn’t Ready to Be With a White Person”
Media Take Out has learned that Raven-Symoné’s wife, Miranda Pearman-Maday, is speaking out — and the tea she just spilled about their relationship has fans stunned.
In a new emotional interview, Miranda opened up about the early days of their romance and revealed that Raven actually ended the relationship at one point… all because of race.
“She Broke Up With Me Because She Wasn’t Ready to Be With a White Person”
According to Miranda, Raven struggled with the idea of being in an interracial relationship — something Miranda didn’t even know until after they split.
“When we got married, Raven kind of gave me a quick, ‘This might be difficult,’” Miranda said. “One of the reasons she broke up with me was because she wasn’t ready to be with a White person.”
Miranda said learning that was heartbreaking.
“I did not know she was struggling with any of those feelings,” she explained. “There’s nothing I can do about my Whiteness. I wish I could’ve supported her better through what she was feeling.”
Miranda Says She Faces Hate Just for Being White
Miranda said the public reaction to their marriage has been overwhelming — and often ugly.
“I’ve just been surprised by how many people hate me because of what I look like,” she said. “Now we’re an interracial couple, and people act like I don’t belong next to Raven.”
She also revealed the constant attacks she receives online:
“They call me Raven’s ‘handler.’ They say I ‘whitewash her.’ I’m a ‘gold digger.’ I ‘control’ her. I ‘don’t let Raven do anything by herself.’ I ‘talk too much.’ I ‘interrupt.’ I see it all.”
They Wanted to Be a Visible Interracial Queer Couple — But It Came With a Price
Miranda said she wanted the world to see them — especially because interracial lesbian couples are rarely represented.
“I pitched the idea of us being on YouTube because I don’t see couples like us anywhere,” she said. “We need real representation, not just the ‘Bette and Tina’ type. A real couple.”
But the cost of visibility has been heavy.
“It’s overwhelming,” she admitted. “But at the end of the day, we’re just a couple trying to grow, thrive, and create. I’m trying to find my own voice, too. Everyone should be allowed to grow.”
Raven and Miranda Are Still Together — And Still Figuring It Out
Despite the rocky beginning, Raven and Miranda eventually reconciled and married in 2020. And according to Miranda, they’re still learning, growing, and blocking out the noise.
“I’ve tried to let all of it go,” she said. “Positive or negative — the noise shouldn’t define us.”
